Remember those state clearances we thought were done?  Well, they’re not.  Apparently, our agency feels that we need a state CAR clearance for every state that we’ve lived in since we were 18 in every name we’ve ever used, whether we used that name in that state or not.  It’s actually kind of ironic that the child abuse registry system counts on criminals using their real names in order to spot them.  It’s reassuring, because a criminal would never think to use an assumed name.

So more paperwork to process and more time lost.  Oh, well.

We finished our mandatory Hague-compliant adoption training.  Plenty of reading, videos and good information there and a bunch of stuff that we didn’t know.  We wished that we could have gotten to some of the reading earlier, but you have a set time period to complete the class.  So for others who may want to get a head start on the reading, we proudly present…

After 10 days of phone calls and faxes, we finally tracked down the last of our state clearances.  Almost instantly our home study was done – all that was left was to fill in the various details from the state forms.  Now we’re on to wrap up some mandatory training (we’ll post links) and get the home study finalized.  Hopefully in the next few weeks we’ll get it all together and sent in to begin the wait at immigration.
